Full-time position working out of Progeny Systems (https://www.progeny.net), headquartered in Manassas VA. Candidate will work on a fast-paced integrated product development team for various Naval efforts using technologies such as Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), web-based solutions and network communications.

The candidate will be responsible for numerous software engineering, as the team rapidly develops and fields both prototypes and production releases. Activities also include the use of internal process improvement, engineering practices and technical documentation.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

-Knowledge of and experience using Java (2-8 years) and Object-Oriented Design and Analysis (OOAD)
-Knowledge of and experience using XML, XQuery, XSLT, and other web technologies-
-Knowledge of and experience using Linux (basic OS comprehension and basic shell scripting)
-BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Commensurate pay for years of experience
-Willing to travel occasionally within Continental United States (CONUS), and less frequently Outside CONUS (OCONUS) and foreign countries
-Desire to work within the entire software engineering lifecycle
-A quick learner and adaptable to new technologies
-Good oral and written communication skills
-0-5 years of professional experience


-Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) development, design, implementation experience
-Knowledge of and experience using design patterns
-Knowledge of and experience using OSGi
-Knowledge of and experience using Apache products, such as Camel, FUSE and Maven
-Knowledge of and experience working in and configuring virtualized environments such as ESXi, KVM, Zen, and Docker
-Knowledge of and experience using web services, including REST and SOAP-
Knowledge of and experience using OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS), Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP), Java Message Service (JMS)

Duties and Responsibilities
-Participation in the software engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering, analysis and documentation to production support and maintenance
-Design, development, testing and delivery of software artifacts in support of customer requirements

Education / Experience Required: 

BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Minimum 2 years’ experience
