Summary: 

The Visa Analyst opening is a full time position in Washington, D.C in support of a federal government contract.

Qualifications: 

-(Preferred) Advanced knowledge and understanding of the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to eligibility for and issuance of a U.S. visa
-Communicate effectively and confidently with high-level executives
-Superior organizational skills and work ethic
-Ability to manage projects at an HQ level
-Effectively and politely interface with public
-Excellent customer service, written, and oral communications skills
-Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory material
-Ability to work independently and/or as a member of the team to effectively interact with personnel at all levels

Anticipated Duties:
The Visa Analyst provides support to the Government staff and prepares letters, reports, and specialized correspondence. S/he will be primarily assigned to VO/L/C, but possibly also to other VO offices. A Government manager will provide day-to-day oversight and direction. The Visa Analyst shall perform all duties required including, but not limited to, the following:

-Effectively and professionally respond to phone calls and electronic communications from colleagues, USG agencies, Congressional offices, and consular posts overseas.
-Draft and submit memos and other correspondence within the assigned timeframe. Written memos are comprehensive, accurate, concise, and conform to all relevant format guidelines, including plain language requirements.
-Track federal appropriations legislation. Timely organize updates on federal appropriations legislation.
-Locate and articulate both department policies, and case information in order to address inquiries or cases and address any issues relevant to the geographical or functional area of responsibility as appropriate. Review written guidance within assigned geographical or functional area of responsibility for clarity, accuracy, completeness, in accordance with plain language standards.
-Articulate department priorities in meetings as well as in any briefing materials, talking points and other work products that he or she may be requested to draft or edit.
-Arrange for proper disposal of sensitive information in accordance with department guidelines.
-Act as a liaison with other mission related USG agencies.
-Effectively and confidently communicate with the attorneys and other staff in the division.
-Arrange meeting locations and necessary technological support.
-Train new Visa Analysts and other new personnel regarding all of the above, as assigned.
-Participate in consular outreach activities including, but not limited to: professional meetings, interagency meetings, college, and university events.

Education / Experience Required: 

Bachelor's Degree (advanced degree preferred), and;
Six (6) years of written and oral communications in an office environment, including;
Two (2) years of policy development, international relations, intelligence community, legal, and/or foreign service, including;
Four (4) years of experience utilizing a variety of office software, specifically: MS Word, MS Power Point, MS SharePoint, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
