Summary: 

QSI is seeking a qualified Visa Liaison Officer to work on location with a federal government client.

Qualifications: 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• (Preferred) knowledge and understanding of the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to eligibility for and issuance of a U.S. visa
• Ability to learn and recall information about visa application procedures and the laws and regulations pertaining to visa requirements
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and effectively communicate with a wide audience with excellent written and oral communications skills
• Ability to comprehend and communicate the requirements for a visa in a professional and courteous manner both over the telephone and in-person
• Ability to maintain composure and objectivity in stressful situations and in dealing with multiple inquiries

Ability to complete the following:
• Act as a liaison with other visa-related DOS bureaus and USG agencies, such as:
o The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and subcomponent agencies such as Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
• Assist in the administration of CA/VO/F functions:
o Effectively and confidently communicate with the VO/F, VO/L, Posts, and DHS/CBP interlocutors. This includes ensuring that CBP is aware of VO interests and equities, and notifying VO of CBP policy, procedural, operational, and personnel updates that may impact VO equities.
o When VO requires a point of contact at CBP, the liaison officer will attempt to locate the appropriate CBP stakeholders and arrange meeting locations and necessary technological support.
• Draft written products such as letters and memoranda that are responsive to requests, include the input of interested offices, and require minimal revision.
• Receive, track, and process incoming US-VISIT, passport waiver, CBP ineligibility review, and interagency meeting requests.
o US-VISIT - Correctly search consular databases and all other relevant records to accurately vet and prepare requests. Draft and clear action memos for the US-VISIT exemption requests in a timely manner. Once approved, accurately enter the exemption codes into CCD. Liaise with Protocol, posts, CBP, and regional bureaus as needed for last minute questions, changes, and requests.
o Passport Waiver Requests – Respond to posts’ questions concerning procedures related to DHS authorization of passport waiver requests. Handling the processing of specific requests for waivers of passports, acting as the liaison to CBP/OFO for all requests for consideration. Assist posts in gathering required information in order for CBP to consider such requests. Coordinate and track waiver requests to CBP/OFO to ensure they are adjudicated and responses sent back to posts in a timely manner, using Microsoft Excel.
o CBP Hit Review – Correctly advise VO and posts on CBP TECS/CLASS hits to help clarify underlying derogatory information, help coordinate review of legal sufficiency, and track and coordinate requests for CBP review and/or modification in accordance with VO policy and procedures.
• Train new visa liaison officers and other personnel regarding all of the above, as assigned.
• Arrange for proper disposal of sensitive information in accordance with Department guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Required: 

• Bachelor’s Degree (advanced degree preferred), and;
• At least 4 years of written and oral communications in an office environment, including;
• At least 2 years of policy development, international relations, legal, and/or foreign service, including;
• Four (4) years of experience utilizing a variety of office software, specifically: MS Word, MS Power Point, MS SharePoint, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
